Fazzoletto

Bianconi Fulvio
(Padova, 1915 - Milano, 1996)

White glass handkerchief. Folds made with execution of the time thanks to the aid of pliers.
The series of Fazzoletti vases (fazzoletti) is one of the most characteristic Venini productions of the 1950s, and it's considered to be an Icon of Murano Art glass even at an international level. The series was born from a partnership between Fulvio Bianconi and Paolo Venini, the first handkerchiefs were made with a specific metal mold for sectors. With this and with the aid of pliers, the typical undulatory movement of the vessel was obtained, with folds of different depths. However, most of the models are characterized by irregular circles with barely hinted points or with large accentuated points that give expressiveness and plastic value to the piece. They have been produced in different glass processing techniques, such as transparent glass, glass with polychrome rods and, above all, glass with zanfirico rods (twisted filigree), particularly evocative of lace and embroidery of Venice.
